First Christmas

Hello everyone! Sorry about the delay. Elizabeth's first Christmas went well (most of it). Elizabeth woke me up bright and early at 730. She was playing in her crib and squealing. You could also hear her kicking her legs. I woke up Sam and told him Elizabeth was trying to tell us she wanted to see her toys. We laid there a minute and just listened to her playing and squealing. We finally went and got her. Sam lit candles and put on some Christmas music and got Elizabeth's morning bottle ready. Then Elizabth gave me my first gift. I turned around and found her holding her bottle. As soon as she saw me, she let go. Somebody has been faking it. I have a lazy baby. As long as someone is there to hold it, she won't hold it. After she ate we sat around the Christmas tree and helped her unwrap her presents. It was great! She didn't really know what to do with all the stuff. She kept going for the wrapping paper and tissue paper. She got a mirror thing that sings and lights up and a crawlthrough play wall that makes noise when she plays with the toys on it. That's what she is doing right now. She got a bib that says My Aunt Loves Me. When I showed it to my sister Ashleigh (5 yrs old) she said "That's right, I do. After the gifts and all were opened, we went to my mom's. They of course had already opened their stuff and were playing. My sisters were excited about a gift they were giving to us. It ended up being a scrapbook kit. I've already made one page and will probably do another soon. It is soooooo cool. My mom's house wasn;t that great this year. My mom was sick and everyone was off doing their own thing. Sam made a breakfast cassarole and the only people who ate it were me, him, and my two teenage sisters. Between the four of us, we ate it all. My dad was trying to put together a Thomas the Train set that came with no directions, just a picture. My mom was still feeling sick from the stomach bug, and the little ones were busy playing with their toys and trying to get people to open and set up their stuff (barbie 3-story doll house, transformers) Sam was suppose to fry a turkey and with everyone sick, no one really wanted to eat. We left as soon as it was done. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and playing with Elizabeth and her new toys. The day after Christmas I went shopping with Elizabeth and my sister Kelly. Apparently the little ones were all sick along with my dad. We went to they mall and walmart, and micheal's craft store. I got lots of scrapbooking stuff there. :) Yesterday was spent just playing with Elizabeth. That's it for us. Sam on the other hand, is beginning to look for a new job. The day after Christmas he was yelled at about a job that he apparently did badly in Charleston the previous weekend (when he wasn't even there!) Sam had been sick and running a temp with bronchitis so he did not go on that job. When he tried to explain that to his boss, he wouldn't listen. He boss cussed at him and SPIT on him. That is just plain wrong. He also dropped the bomb that there would be no commission. When we agreed he could go to this job the guy said that there was a base pay of 600 OR the comission for the jobs done that week, whichever was higher. Apparently the guy has now decided not to offer commission. Its a new business and we thought we could trust the guy because he Sam's friend's dad. I guess not. We are hoping he can find something with hours so he can spend time with Elizabeth. That was the whole reason for the job change in the first place. So be praying for us. It will be a rough beginning for the new year. Well, that's about all for now. I'll post a few pics of Elizabeth and be on my way....oh yeah...I could have sworn she said MaMa this morning.....

Long Week

Sorry it's been so long since I wrote last. For those of you who don't know, Elizabeth had to leave daycare early Monday and Tuesday. She was running a fever and not eating. Yesterday she threw up her breakfast. We think she had the stomach bug. It's been a little crazy. To top it off, I am still trying to do my Christmas shopping. We get out of school Wednesday. I'm hoping to do a little shopping tomorrow and finish my school people. We also went today to get pictures with Santa. Elizabeth would not smile worth anything. She couldn't figure out whose lap she was sitting in. Also took some pics of her at home. Posting some of them here.....The last one is one where you can tell she is tired. She looks so pitiful. :(

Annoyed

Hello. I'm annoyed. I consider myself a pretty laid back mom (quit laughing Robin!). Let me set up the scenerio and see what you think......Elizabeth does not always drink full bottles at daycare. She will eat an entire jar of food and drink about half a bottle. Usually, the daycare tries repeatedly to feed her. She is also teething and had a rough weekend because of it. I told them this when I dropped her off. Also, she has Tylonel in her bag, always does ever since they had problems with her screaming and not calming down. Ok...heres what happened...Yesterday I dropped her off and explained that I had the stomach bug Monday and she has showed no signs of it but to keep an eye on her. My mom was going to pick her up. I also told them about the teething and to give her the Tylonel if she had trouble with it. I go to work and wasn't feeling well so I cancel my homebound so I could just go home and rest. Also called my mom so I could pick up Elizabeth. I get there and she is sitting in an exersaucer. They say that they almost called me but didn't because they thought my mom was coming and she comes early. She has not eaten. She ate her jar of food and her bottle at 815am. Since then (330 at this point) She had only had 2 oz. of milk. When I ask them what she had done, she hears me, looks at me, and immediately starts crying. I pulled out a bottle ash they explained that she would take a few swallows and turn away and cry. (and yet they gave her no tylonel!) As we are talking I fix a fresh bottle so I can try to feed her. She stops crying as soon as I give it to her. She does the crying bit and continues to eat. SHE'S TEETHING! It's EXPECTED that she HURTS! She also has a temp of 100.2. AND THEY DON"T GIVE HER TYLONEL! I wasn't all mad because she pulls the not eating bit all the time. I started getting annoyed when she proceeded to drink the entire bottle. Then when i get home, she drinks another full bottle! 12 oz total. My child was starving and they didn't realize it! This is when I got pissed. Especially because I told them she was having problems. I even told him she was pulling away from the bottle because of the teething. Right now I am kinda debating the merits of pulling her out of the daycare and putting her in the same one as my sister and brothers. Havn't really talked to Sam about this yet but really wanted to get someone elses opinion. Your thoughts? Am I over-reacting? I mean this is my child who was very hungry. They had the Tylonel, and the y had a phone. Am I right to be concerned or should I take a "chill pill?"

Stomach Bug

Hello,
We've had an interesting weekend. I had the stomach bug yesterday, Sam has it today, and we are praying that we haven't given it to Elizabeth. She seems fine so far. She has had a lot of teething pains over the weekend. Unfortunantly, no teeth yet. :( Well, I'm still not feeling too good so I'm gonna go now. I'll try to write more later.

Saturday

Hello Again! Sorry It's been a week since writing. Elizabeth has slept through the night every day this week except for two. Yea!!! Right now she is watching baby einstein Mozart. She is wearing 6-9 mos clothes and can wear 9 mos. pants. Getting tall fast! She goes for her 6 month check up (and shots) Thursday. This week has been pretty busy, hince the not writing. Next week will be too. Sam will be out of town next Friday and has a job Tuesday/Wednesday in Lexington. I have to work until 430 Monday, 6pm Tuesday, 430 Wednesday, Doctor Thursday, and thankfully, nothing Friday. It may not sound like much but when daycare closes at 415, it's kinda annoying. It means I have to have someone pick up Elizabeth 3 days this week. :( No fun. Nothing much has been happening with her. She still has a cough and I'm debating wrether or not to take her to the doctor today. I'll probably get my mom's input. She'll tell it like it is. We are looking forward to Christmas with Elizabeth. I have a special present for some special people. We need to take Christmas pictures of her. Might do that today. :) Well, got to go...bye!

First Thanksgiving

Hello Hello! I'll be adding several pictures today. There is one of Sam and my sister Ashleigh, one of me and Elizabeth sleeping, and one of Elizabeth curled up in Great Grandma Roosenboom's blanket eating. Her diaper rash is looking better (Thank God!!). She screams and fights us when we try to change her. Today was her first thanksiving ever. She was VERy good. She hung out in a walker in Grandma Smith's kitchen while we cooked. Aunt Ashleigh helped me make deviled eggs. So did Uncle David. Who still doesn't act like he had surgery Tuesday. They got to see thier first turkey frying. It was awesome. My mom made eyes and a nose for "Frank" the turkey. Then she put a sign on him that said "Please Don't Eat Me." Everyone wanted to see the turkey drop into the pot. My mom and dad have never eaten fried turkey. When they ate it they were surprised. They are already making plans to do this next year. Ususally we got eat lunch at mom's and then come here and cook. My mom usually pulls a lot of stuff out of the can. We decided this year to eat and cook together. It was awesome. Chase said this was his favorite Thanksgiving. We even all sat around the table and ate. Caleb, Heather's boyfriend was there. After eating it was naptime for pretty much everyone. It was good to get around the table and do this together for a change. It will definantly be a tradition we keep up in the future. Tomorrow...the Christmas tree comes out. :) Yea!!!! I'm going to try to get some Christmas pictures of Elizabeth and of all of us. It should be cute. I can't wait! I'm debating braving the mall or not tomorrow. There is an ornament or two I really want to get for our tree and for other people.

Poo..and NOT the cute teddy bear!

Ewww! She poo-ed on me! GROSS!!!! And there I was trying to be nice and change her wet diaper at 4 something in the morning! I went to put some cream on her bottom and there she blows! I know it had to happen sometime..just wish it had happened to Sam. Otherwise, she's doing good. She has a little cough and mucus. There is a cold going around daycare again.
On other news, my brother David, had surgery and his tonsils have been removed. Everything went fine and he was back home milking it by 3pm. He has quickly figured out that he can have a many popsicles as he wants and mom's not going to say no. My mom gave him pain meds and hoped he would go to sleep....instead, my other brother Chase went to sleep and David played. Also, last night I went to the Miss Aquilla pagent. For those of you that don't know, it's the high school's pagent. Heather (17) rolled her eyes as she was walking fo the evening gown compitition and didn't smile. She likes the preparation part and doesn't really care about winning. Kelly(16) on the other hand...Last year she was SO nervous. We had trouble hearing her in the themewear. They have to same a little rhyme or something. This year Kelly belted it! She came out, cocked that hand on the hip and rocked it. Which is hard to do when you are dressed as a giant shark. No...seriously...a person sized shark. She was mad b/c a girl had her same evening dress too. BUT...Kelly got 2nd runner up! She was on cloud nine! Everyone was surprised when she did so well in themewear. We didn't think she would get anything and when she did so awesome, we began to think she actually might. It was pretty cool. Well, considering it is 514am abd I don't have school tomorrow, I'm goign to bed to sleep as much as I can....:)

Monday Again...

Don't you love Mondays!?! Mine was actually good today. They cancelled the faculty meeting since this is a short week and most of my kids did really well on this math quiz they got back today. I was pretty excited. Elizabeth is doing good. She's in bed now. When I went to put her down I found a cat sleeping in her crib. I'll put that pic up later. Apparently I left the gate open to her room. Oops! I hear her crying..be right back....I guess I put her down too early. We're gonna go sit and play for a bit....

Cat

Well, It's Sunday and we did not make it to church this morning. Elizabeth and I were cuddling in bed and petting Masey, our cat when I ealized that I had not heard from Bingle. He's the cat who will wake the dead. Then I remembered that when we got home from the basketball game last night, Bingle ran out the door. He has taken to doing this lately and then he'll come banging at the door about 5 minutes later and we'll let him in. BUT, last night we went straight to bed and I forgot about him being outside. Sooo...he spent the night outside. He is a spastic cat and we still haven't found him. Sam has been walking up and down the street calling him and shaking a bag of treats. He always comes for treats. We figure he is scared and hiding. We can't seem to find himm anywhere. Kinda getting nervous now. Neither of us think he would have gone too far but we are worried.

**UPDATE** Bingle has been found. Sam was checking the drainage areas and found him hiding in one. He couldn't reach him and we had to take off the top of the drain. Sam got in there and handed him out. He's a little dirty and hungry and VERY freaked out. He seems happy to be back inside. Masey was very happy to see him. Apparently, Sam had walked by him multiple times and never heard him. We're just glad he is okay. :)

Cutie

Ain't she cute!?! Elizabeth just went down fo a nap. I will be joining her shortly. She is getting so big! She is going to Grandma Smith's today so Sam and I can go to a basketball game together. It should be fun. Well, not much to write right now but I wanted to post this pic. C-ya soon!

TGIF

Hello hello! It's been a crazy week around here. School has had a lot going on. Thank God next week is only two days long. My brother has surgery next Tuesday. My teenage sisters are both in trouble. One because of class grades, and the other because of SAT scores. Not good. Elizabeth is pretty good tonight. My mom kept her last night because I had class and I picked her up when I was done. The daycare forgot to give my mom the diaper bag I left for her so My mom put small diapers on her instead. It was funny. Then, this morning, Sam dressed Elizabeth and put on her jacket. Then he buckled her into the carseat. When I got to daycare I put her in an exersaucer and took off the jacket. :o and Behold...Sam had put her shirt on backwards. I figured he did it to be funny because he had done it by accident a month ago. But come to find out he did not. He thought is was a polo shirt. Doesn't matter that it has a design on it...You would think the tag would clue him in. Lol! Well, not much more to write. Aunt Susan, she loves her toys and the pink jacket is so precious! Thank you so much for the gifts. The ball esecially gets her attention. I was excited about the books. I am a reader and I teach language arts and math. Elizabeth has her own library. I have lots of Dr. Suess books and 2 treasuries of nusery rhymes. The Pooh, Disney, and Bedtime stories are great! They have been added to her libabry. I'm thinking she is going to need her own bookshelf before long. I'm going to put a pic on here of Elizabeth in her clothes that Sam put on backwards. It's cute!

Thursday

Hello again. I showed Sam what I wrote last night when he got home yesterday and he laughed. Thankfully, last night was SO much better. I have vague memories fo banging on the wall behind the bed to alert Sam that it was his turn to get Elizabeth and then she slept from there out. The only times she woke up, I just gave her the pacifier back nd back to La-la land she went. I just fed her and now I'm up for the day. She ate all of her food yesterday at school. Finished off her carrots. Well, I need to go get ready for school now. I have a class tonight until like 5 or so. Grandma Smith is getting Elizabeth from daycare. Sam has to go get estimates on how much it is to fix his car. For those of you who don't know, the boss' son ran into the back of Sam's parked car. Oh joy. Just read what people had been saying and it's pretty cool. Apparently we made Grandma cry so lets try for a picture to make her laugh.....

Loosing my mind

It is 128am and Elizabeth is wide awake. I knew she went down too early! I'm trying to stop feeding her in the middle of the night so she will sleep. Personally I'd like to know whose bright idea it was to say you can't pick them up and to just pat their backs to sooth them. Did they have kids??? Does it work?? Considering the fact that I am sitting here writing this while my child bounces on my knee and pulls all the paper off my desk....I'm thinking not tonight. Oh great....baby spit up...lucky me. God I wish Sam were home. Then I could pass her off. But noooooo...Sam is enjoying a full uninterropted night of sleep. Butthead...Can't remember the last time I had that. Pardon me while I go and get all the CDs and other miscellaneous items out of Elizabeth's reach. She keeps pulling stuff off the desk. I guess she thinks its funny...ha..ha. :( Okay...I guess I'll go and change Elizabeth's red bottom now. Maybe a clean booty and a rock in the chair will help. By the way, her spot of diaper rash looks much better, Here we go....pray for me.. Oh joy....she peed.out of the diaper...there goes her sleeper and blanket....keep praying. YES! peaceful sleep has arrived. Does anyone have a slingshot and some pennies? I'm running out of things to throw at the cat. Whoever said cats were quiet pets obviously never me this one. He can and does wake the dead! (ie. Sam, Me, Elizabeth, Daniel, Robin, maybe Steve)

1st real post...

Hello again. It's 754pm and Elizabeth is down for the night, her bottles are ready for day care, and the kitchen has been cleaned. It was recommended that I use the blog to log events in Elizabeth's day.....lets see...she slept pretty good last night until around 4 this morning. That's about normal though since I get up at 5. Sam left for Mount Pleasent (Charleston) this morning shortly after I left for work. I thought Elizabeth had a fever when she got up this morning but according to the themometer, she didn't. However, when I got to daycare, her temp was 99.9. They checked it later on that day and it was 100. The cut-off for leaving her at daycare is 100.5. Yesterday her temp got to 100.3. The thing is, her attitude has been fine. She has to be teething. She is also trying to eat everything in sight. They tried to feed her carrots at daycare today but she would not eat them. Elizabeth has been sitting up on her own and seems ready to get up and run at any given moment. She is twice the size of one of the other kids at daycare who is the same age as her. She's long. I have some pics loading of her and some of her grandma and grandpa....
Grandma and Grandpa Matthews recently left from a visit here. I miss seeing them. If I had my way, they'd be back here in SC. But I know they love being up there closer to the rest of the Matthews family. I tried to make Robin's fried rice....I think I used too much soy sauce. It wasn't bad though..just a lot of flavor. At least I didn't burn it. I thought I was going to have to order a pizza. Oops....Bones is on....my favorite TV show.....C-ya.

Blogging Beginnings

Hello all! Chrissy here. It was recommended that Sam and I begin a blog for Elizabeth so that family everywhere can keep up to date. So...here it is. With our computer finally moving faster than it was, I hope we can update regularly. Expect more to come.....
